Welcome to Color Walk ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have control over your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you access our invite-only platform at ourcolorwalk.com (the "Service").

This policy is designed to comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) in Canada, and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union.

1. Information We Collect

We only collect information that is necessary to operate the Service and provide a meaningful experience.

  • Account Information: When you join via an invite, we collect your full name, email address, username, and a securely hashed password.

  • Content & Metadata (EXIF): When you upload photographs, we process the image files and automatically extract specific EXIF metadata to display alongside your work (Camera Make, Model, Lens, ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed, and Focal Length). We automatically strip all other metadata (including GPS/location data) during our image optimization process.

  • Usage Data: We collect information regarding your last login date and account activity to manage platform engagement.

  • Analytics Data: We use Google Analytics to collect anonymized data about how users interact with our site (e.g., page views, approximate geographic region, device type).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

  • Operate, maintain, and secure the platform.

  • Display your curated galleries to other authenticated users and the public.

  • Send administrative emails (e.g., password resets, session announcements, inactivity warnings) via our email provider, Resend.

  • Monitor platform health and analyze user engagement trends.

  • Enforce our Terms of Service and moderate flagged content.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We only share information with trusted service providers who assist us in operating the platform:

  • Hosting Providers: To store your data and images securely.

  • Email Infrastructure (Resend): To route transactional and transactional emails.

  • Analytics (Google Analytics): To process anonymized traffic data.

4. Data Retention & Automated Deletion

We believe in minimizing data storage.

  • Active Accounts: We retain your data for as long as your account remains active.

  • Inactive Accounts: If an account is inactive for an extended period (typically 365 days), we will send a warning email. If the account remains inactive, we will automatically permanently purge the account, including all associated user data, galleries, and photographs from our servers.

  • Manual Deletion: You may request account deletion at any time. Upon deletion, all your images and personal data are permanently wiped from our active databases and storage blocks.

5. Your Privacy Rights (PIPEDA & GDPR)

Depending on your location, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

  • Correction: Edit your username, name, email, and avatar directly via your Profile dashboard.

  • Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): Request the permanent deletion of your account and data.

  • Data Portability: Request your data in a structured, commonly used format.

  • Withdraw Consent: Opt out of optional analytics tracking via your browser settings or our cookie consent banner.

6. International Data Transfers

Color Walk is operated from Canada. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in Canada and potentially the United States (via our infrastructure providers). Canada has been recognized by the European Commission as providing adequate data protection.
